Pre-Departure Statement (Pt. II)

Hello all.

As some of you may be wondering to yourselves, I have also wondered both aloud and inwardly: "why have a blog that you never post to?" The answer my friends, is blowing in the wind, they say, but still, I'm recognizing of the irony. Here's the rub.

So last year I wrote the post you see above this one. I had intended to serve up some hot and spicy blogs while camped out in India, but it didn't come to pass. I had an issue getting onto Blogspot from the school computers, which may well have been my forgetting both name and password in the swelter of the Rajasthani summer heat. Whatever the confounded occurance may have been, I ended up posting my blogs to Myspace, which as some of you pointed out then, slowly tapered off as summer drew to a close. This is true, but not without good reason.

What happened is that I met a girl and quickly fell in love. Classical poetic conventions in Indian literature state that the rainy season is the time most auspicious for love and tryst, but such was not the case with us, and we defiantly staked out our new emotional landscape flush in the Tandoori oven of the Indian summertime. So much for convention! Little did I know at the time what a momentous happening this would prove to be: we recently got engaged, and plan to wed when time and distance permit. The both of us are heading back to India together in June, and life could not be much better than it stands at this moment. Hooray for us!

So here's to another stab at keeping up with this blog thing while traveling abroad. It's difficult, I know, there are things to do and see and smell in a place like India, and to be sure imbibing will be the order of the day whether desired or no. But please feel free to refer to this page in order to keep tabs on us as we return once again to the land of holy cows and butter naan. I promise, this year, with my favorite person in the world by my side smack in the middle of my favorite place on the planet, to do a better job of keeping a written journal. I am planning on leaving around the 3rd or 4th of June, to be on the ground a bit earlier this year and get my bearings before the program starts proper. I'll keep you all posted.
